STEAM POWERED LEARNING

We plan to layer STEAM learning directly into Space Base California by designing experiences that combine space science with engineering, mathematics, technology, and creative design—from interactive exhibits and rocket-launch viewings to hands-on maker-style workshops and design challenges. By blending artistic design and storytelling with rigorous STEAM content, we’ll encourage participants to think critically, solve real-world problems, and innovate—skills at the heart of a STEAM education approach. This integration will help spark curiosity, nurture creativity, and foster a long-term passion for discovery across all ages. In doing so, Space Base California becomes not just a destination for entertainment, but a dynamic learning environment where exploration and education go hand-in-hand.

Unlike traditional theme parks that emphasize rides or historical retellings, or science centers that focus solely on exhibits, it combines immersive simulations, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) programming, and real-time views of space launches to inspire visitors about humanity's transition to a space-faring civilization. Key features include mission-based activities, hydroponic labs, and overnight "camps" that blend education with entertainment, creating a "national treasure" experience.

  • The site is on 82 acres of City of Lompoc-owned land in Ken Adam Park, along Pacific Coast Highway, adjacent to Allan Hancock College and 5 miles from VSFB's South Launch Complexes. It was chosen for its panoramic views of launches, proximity to the West Coast's only active spaceport, and the region's growing space industry, enhancing economic impact.
